OUR STORY

"We didn't plan to be here. We're glad we stayed."

THE PEOPLE

Not a corporation. A team.

"When a buyer comes back and says their customers loved it — that's what we work for. Not the order size."

— Overheard on the production floor

We don't have departments. We have people who know the craft end to end — from yarn selection to finishing — and take real pride in what leaves the factory.

Shivani is built on the hands and knowledge of people who have been knitting since they were teenagers. Some have been with us for over a decade. Most will be here for another.

One factory

Eighteen years of craft, relationships, and quiet ambition.

2007

The founding

Winley takes over a small knitwear factory in Curepipe. 12 staff. No clients. Just a belief that quality makes its own case.

2010

50-piece minimum established

A conscious decision: stay accessible to independents. The 50 pc MOQ becomes the policy that defines who Shivani is for.

2014

The founding

Winley takes over a small knitwear factory in Curepipe. 12 staff. No clients. Just a belief that quality makes its own case.

2017

ISO quality certification

7-stage QC process formalised. Every panel inspected. Certification achieved without changing the process — it already existed.

2020

Cashmere and silk introduced

Noble materials programme launched. Cashmere, merino, silk, linen — all from traceable, inspected sources.

2026

SHIVANI — the brand

60 staff. 80,000 pieces per month capacity. 18 years of trust. The website you are reading is the first time the story has been told in public.

+19 years manufacturing quality knitwear...

People first. Always have been.

"Every industry I've worked in came down to the same thing — people. This one is no different."

Before knitwear, the director built his career in education and then healthcare — two worlds where the human touch isn't a feature, it's the whole point. He carried that same instinct into manufacturing. He acquired the factory not as an asset, but to keep its people in work, allowing the team to ease down naturally over time rather than through layoffs.

That people-first conviction now shapes who Shivani makes for: a deliberate move from large department-store contracts toward the boutiques and luxury houses that still care how things are made — and by whom.

Small batches, no pressure

50 pieces minimum per color and per style. No large-order requirements. We built the business around the way independent retailers actually buy.

Materials first

Every yarn is inspected before production begins. Cashmere, wool, merino, linen, cotton & silk. Blends — all from sources we know and return to.

QC at every stage

Multiple checkpoints from raw material to dispatch. Not inspection theatre — it's how the factory has always worked.

Long-term relationships

Most of our European buyers have been with us for over 15 years. That's the product of consistent quality.
